Nightmare on Research Street: Halloween Pizza Party on 10/31/2023 at 3:00 PM-4:00 PM

is now open for registration<https://libcal.ou.edu/event/10970845>

Nightmare on Research Street is our annual Halloween Party about the horrors of losing your research, classwork, scholarship, or notes. Participants and librarians hear and share stories of lost work, confusing file names, and notes-to-self-gone-wrong to prompt discussion. We’ll announce the winners of the Nightmare on Research Street Story Contest<https://libcal.ou.edu/event/11060730> (deadline Oct. 29, 11:59pm), and a random story-telling participant will win a 2 TB external hard drive! Let’s learn from each other and keep our hard work safe!

Pizza and drinks are available for all attendees. All levels are welcome: undergraduate students, graduate students, postdocs, staff, and faculty from all disciplines.

  * Registration is recommended<https://libcal.ou.edu/calendar/ll118/nightmare> to ensure enough pizza, but drop-ins are welcome!
  * Halloween costumes are encouraged but not required.
  * For a chance to win one of three quality, rugged 2 TB external hard drives<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.amazon.com/LaCie-Rugged-External-Portable-LAC9000298/dp/B00IRV005E/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=lacie*tough*drive&qid=1631038627&sr=8-3__;Kys!!GNU8KkXDZlD12Q!52BMhDEBTXLgN2_H_5uw5FMztlplIowQcAJsjy3d0yAOP0TrzYg9qV52JvC6g1kTk2lWZDg7X0euT9NLRUTh0BA$ [amazon[.]com]>, enter the Story Contest<https://libcal.ou.edu/event/11060730> or tell a story at this event!

This event is offered in person once per year on or near Halloween (October 31). Automatic captioning will be provided via Zoom. The announcers and storytellers will use a handheld portable microphone for amplification. Context for the event, including past winners, is available online<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://osf.io/nes9z/__;!!GNU8KkXDZlD12Q!52BMhDEBTXLgN2_H_5uw5FMztlplIowQcAJsjy3d0yAOP0TrzYg9qV52JvC6g1kTk2lWZDg7X0euT9NLGWTIxPU$ [osf[.]io]>. We have no scheduled breaks during this one-hour event. Gendered and family restrooms are available on the same floor. Food (pizza) and drinks will be provided. Additionally, Bizzell Memorial Library has a coffee shop on LL1<https://libraries.ou.edu/content/bookmark-cafe> (hours may vary) and vending machines on LL1, in the hall east of LL118 (the community room<https://intranet.libraries.ou.edu/docs/documents/LL1.png>). Water fountains are available on all floors. For additional accommodations on the basis of disability, please contact the event organizer or [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> .
