It is time for the 2010 Spring Celebration of Writing for Students and Teachers Conference. This conference is open to grades 6-12.   Please see attached information.  Pass along to someone in your building, site or district.   Deadline to register is March 25, 2010.

2010 Spring Celebration of Writing 
for Students and
Teachers
Wednesday, April 7, 2010
University Center Great Hall,
Oklahoma City University

Natasha Trethewey, 2007 Pulitzer Prize winning poet, will be the guest speaker at the Oklahoma Writing Project
annual Spring Celebration of Writing Conference April 7 at Oklahoma City
University. Her book Native Guardis a collection of poems about the
African-American troop of soldiers who fought in the Civil War for the North,
but were stationed in the South.  Her
appearance is sponsored by the Oklahoma City University Fine Arts Institute and
the Center for Interpersonal Studies through Film and Literature.  
 
Each teacher may bring 5 students, grades 6-12.  (Sorry, space limits
us to no more than 5.)  Winners of
the 2010 OWP Writing Contest will be honored in the morning general session. Participants will receive a copy of the 2010
Anthology.  In the afternoon,
students and teachers will attend two writing workshops of their choice. All workshops will be presented by Oklahoma Writing Project Teacher Consultants.

8:45-9:00 Welcome/Quickwrite 
9:00-9:45 Celebration of Writing
Contest Winners
10:00-11:30  Special Session:  Natasha Trethewey, Award Winning
Poet
11:30-12:30  Lunch 
(We
recommend lunch in the Student Union, $6 per person, or bring sack lunch.)
12:30-1:45  Writing Workshop 1
2:00-3:15    Writing Workshop 2

For those of you, who entered pieces in the OWP "Write to Win" contest, winners will be announced very soon!
