The A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Kansas State University has two Instructor positions open.
Position 1:  The A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Kansas State University seeks a well-rounded instructor/technical assistant who will teach in the field of radio journalism and news production and provide media technical assistance to the school. This full-time, nine-month position may begin as early as Spring 2011.  The candidate must have strong commitment to quality teaching, creative works, effective student advising and serving a diverse population. Primary teaching responsibilities include audio news and production, with a secondary emphasis in web or video. Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in radio news or multimedia production and a master’s degree in a related field. Teaching and web experience is a plus. Position 2.  The A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Kansas State University seeks a full-time news director/instructor, who will serve as executive director and supervisor of its student television newscast.  The successful candidate may begin as early as spring semester 2011.  The candidate we seek must have a strong commitment to quality teaching, creative work, effective student advising and serving a diverse population.  The candidate must have a minimum of five years electronic journalism experience and a master’s degree in radio-television, journalism, or related field. He/she must be familiar with converged newsrooms as well as the general responsibilities and scope of a television news director’s position.  Teaching experience is also preferred.  This is a nine month position where the candidate will teach two classes each semester in the Media Convergence Center, a state-of-the-art converged news and production facility, oversee media and news service activities, and engage in other duties as assigned by the school.  He/she must be able to mentor student reporters, videographers, editors, graphic specialists, and others who work in a converged newsroom.
