Hey Everyone --
BTW -- Just to clarify in the last message about the problem
with electronic ballots I was NOT saying AEJ White members are racist.
No. No. No. That wasn't what I meant! It is just a political science
empirical finding that people of color/"minority" candidates typically
have to have the time and organization to mobilize to support most
minority candidates.

I just found out that this is the SECOND time AEJ has required
electronic ballots but I didn't even get my email link last year to even
have a chance to try to make time to go see who was running for what. I
didn't even know any MAC members were on the ballot this year until just
before the deadline because I didn't have time before that to go to the
website and look at the ballot when I first got the reminder. It was
easier for me to mobilize for MAC candidates when we had paper ballots
so far ahead of voting time. I'm overwhelmed with paper mail too but
still get fewer pieces that emails! I also have more control over
sorting paper mail and what little research I've seen on the matter
shows that even though then USPS loses paper mail, emails are more
likely to be lost in cyberspace at many junctures. We (MAC) didn't have
time to mobilize and many AEJers in many divisions may not have even
gotten the email with the link. I hear last year's electronic was low
but this year's was even lower.
