Temple University
Department of Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising
Magazine Journalism one-year renewable position

The ACEJMC-accredited Department of Journalism, Public Relations and
Advertising (JPRA) at Temple University invites applications and
nominations
for a one-year renewable professional faculty position at the assistant
professor rank beginning August 2003.

The successful candidate will teach magazine writing, editing, design
and/or
production courses. The department is especially interested in
individuals
whose professional magazine experience matches the current and future
focus
of the department’s undergraduate and graduate curricula emphasizing
urban
journalism. A desire to teach and advise our diverse student population
is a
must.

Now celebrating its 75th anniversary, the JPRA department has more than
1000
undergraduate majors and 90 master’s students in its advertising,
broadcast
journalism, magazine, multimedia, news-editorial, photography and public
relations sequences.

The successful candidate must have a strong professional background in
magazine journalism, especially writing. Master’s degree preferred.
Design
knowledge/experience is a plus. Some teaching experience is desirable.

Applicants should submit: (1) a cover letter indicating interest in the
position and relevant professional background, including any experience
with
diversity issues; (2) a resume; (3) a statement of teaching
interests/philosophy; and (4) the names, addresses, telephone numbers
and
email addresses of at least three references. Mail application
materials to
Carolyn Kitch, Chair, Search Committee, Department of Journalism, Public
Relations and Advertising, Temple University, 2020 N. 13th Street,
Philadelphia, PA 19122-6080.

Applications will be screened as they are received. All applications
must
be postmarked by Monday January 6, 2003.

Temple University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity
Institution.
