It is time to submit abstracts and panel proposals for the AEJMC Mid-Winter conference. The event will be hosted by the University of Oklahoma, and will take place March 6-8 at the campus in Norman.

If you are interested in submitting your research, please read the info below and make plans to submit your materials to me by December 5. The submissions will be blind reviewed by MAC colleagues.

Also, if you are full-time faculty and are interested in serving as a moderator/discussant for a MAC session at the Mid-Winter conference, please send me an email and I will do my best to involve you in the process.

2009 AEJMC Midwinter Conference
Call for Proposals

            The MAC division invites scholars to submit abstracts and proposals for the AEJMC Midwinter Conference. The 2009 event will be hosted by the University of Oklahoma and will take place March 6-8 at the campus in Norman.

The annual Midwinter Conference traditionally follows an informal structure, allowing for presentations and extended discussions in a relaxed setting. It is a popular venue for graduate students. Papers presented at this conference are eligible for presentation at the national AEJMC convention.                        
            Authors of research papers should submit 300- to 500-word abstracts that give a clear sense of the scope of the research, its relevant hypotheses and/or research questions and the method of inquiry used. Do not submit full papers; only abstracts are required to be considered for presentation at the Midwinter Conference. However, if you have completed your paper by the submission deadline, do emphasize your conclusions in the abstract.

Although not required, those submitting abstracts to the MAC division are encouraged to provide a bibliography listing sources used in the research. 

The submissions will be blind reviewed by MAC members who are faculty.          

Panel organizers should submit proposals indicating the panel title, a description of the session's focus, the issues to be discussed, and a list of the panelists, including their university or professional affiliation.      
            Authors of accepted proposals must submit complete research papers, not exceeding 30 pages, to the assigned discussant two weeks before the conference. Authors are encouraged to use the feedback from reviewers and other Midwinter Conference attendees as they revise works for submission to the national convention.            

Send your abstract or proposal as an attachment in a standard word-processing format (preferably Word). For both papers and panels, the paper's author(s) or panel's organizer(s) should be indicated on the title page only, with the mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address of the person to whom inquiries should be addressed included under the name(s). The title only should be on the first page of the text and on running heads of any subsequent pages. Please be sure that you remove any identifying information from your document (with the exception of the title page). 
            All MAC abstracts and panel proposals must be e-mailed to Frances Ward-Johnson by December 5, 2008, at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> . Please include full contact information so that you can be notified once the blind review process is complete, and put "MAC Midwinter submission" in the subject line. Those submitting will be notified by January 15, 2009 as to the status of their submission.
