Jan Slater, head of the AEJMC Council of Divisions, sent the following convention meeting announcements. If you are or plan to be a MAC officer in 2006-07, please read and mark your calendars accordingly.

Thanks
Lillie Fears
MAC Vice Head

Hello all - we will be together just three weeks from today. It
seems impossible that San Francisco is SO close.

As you prepare for the conference - just a few things to remember.

The Council of Divisions meeting will be at 7 a.m. on Wednesday,
August 2nd. All heads and vice-heads are expected to be in
attendance at this meeting. A light breakfast will be served - so
come early - the meeting will start AT 7. Check your program book
for the room location.

On Saturday at 7 a.m. - all incoming heads and vice-heads are
expected to be at that Council of Divisions meeting. Again the
meeting will begin at 7 sharp. Please make this VERY clear to all
those incoming that this is a command performance. This is the
meeting that we begin preparing for next year and talking about
mid-winter. Again - there should be breakfast, and you can check the
location in the agenda.

In addition to the 7 a.m. meeting - all heads, vice-heads, research
chairs, teaching chairs, and PF&R chairs must attend training
sessions at 8:15. This is a really important session so that
everyone can learn what is expected and how things will work. I have
seen it happen that those that do not know what is going on are those
that did not attend these training sessions. As we move to
electronic submissions of papers - this training will be even more
important. So - please inform all of those who are taking on these
tasks - that they need to be around for those sessions. If you have
someone who has a conflict -send someone in his/her place.

Please make certain that you attend the Scholar-to-Scholar session
for your division or interest group. It is always important that you
make certain that your presenters and discussants are in attendance.
Also -it is great for the presenters to know that the head of the
division/interest group was there.

There will be a vote on a dues increase at the business meeting.
Please come to vote.

Also - don't forget the AEJMC New Member breakfast. Each division
and interest group may send a representative to the breakfast. It is
a great time to meet new members and invite them to your member's
meeting. You may also bring a handout with your convention sessions
or other info about the group to hand out. (If you bring something,
about 50 copies would be ample.) The breakfast is Thursday, Aug. 3
from 7 to 8 a.m. I know - there are lots of 7 a.m. events.

I'm looking forward to a great convention. You've all done a super
job and it will pay off in just few weeks. BTW - if you haven't
sent me the number of papers you accepted - please do that.

I will be out of the country (China to be exact) from July 14th -
July 25th. If you need something during that time - get in touch
with Kim Bissell - [log in to unmask] - or contact the main office.
I'll send you a follow up email when I return.

See you soon!!!!!!
