Department of Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media
Temple University

The department of Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass
Media (BTMM) at Temple University invites applications from
senior faculty for the position of Department Chair beginning
fall 2004. This is a tenured faculty position in a department of
approximately 900 majors who study audio, video and electronic
media production; management of media institutions; and social
and psychological functions, processes and effects of media. The
department offers a master's degree and contributes to an inter-
departmental doctoral program in Mass Media and Communication.
BTMM is one of six departments in a large, diverse and dynamic
School of Communications and Theater.

We seek a person who has not only the relevant background but
also the dedication, vision and leadership skills to guide the
department in a constantly evolving set of academic and
professional environments. Candidates with academic backgrounds
should have a Ph.D. and an understanding of and appreciation for
the creative processes related to the field. Candidates with
professional backgrounds should demonstrate an understanding of
the values of university life and scholarship.

Temple University is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the
fourth largest media and telecommunications market in the
nation. The University community at large includes more than
33,000 students in the region and at several international
campuses; the School of Communications and Theater includes
3,500 undergraduate and graduate students.
