Hello MACers,

The 2012 AEJMC conference research paper deadline is just a few months away, and it is once again time to ask you to consider serving as a paper competition judge for the Minorities and Communication division. As you know, reviewing papers for the division is an important form of service to both the division and to the field. And we need you to make the paper competition a success!

I am chair for the faculty paper competition and Kyle Huckins of Indiana Wesleyan University is the research chair for the student paper competition. If you plan to submit a paper to the faculty competition, then you cannot review for that same competition, but you can review for the student competition. One important reminder: ALL authors on a paper submitted to the student competition must be students; if there is a faculty member on the paper - even if that person is not the lead author - the paper will get transferred into the faculty competition.

We strongly encourage you to demonstrate your support for the mission of the MAC division by agreeing to serve as paper competition reviewers. If you plan to show your support, we need you to do two things:

1. You should go now to the All-Academic site through the AEJMC website or to this address http://convention2.allacademic.com/one/aejmc/aejmc12/

and create an account (user name and password) in the All-Academic System. Go to the right side of the page and scroll down until you come to "Click here to create new user name and password."

We would like for you to create your account by Thursday, March 1, 2012. This will allow for assignments of papers to proceed quickly and you will have immediate access to your assigned papers to judge soon after the All-Academic system closes for paper uploading.

Each year is unique, and if you created an account last year, you will need to do so again this year.

2. Once you have created your account, please send me or Kyle an email with your preferences for judging for the areas of study and research methods of the papers you review. You can also specify if you want to review for the faculty competition, the student competition, or no preference. We will try to match papers with reviewers' preferences as best we can.

Thank you for assisting the MAC division of AEJMC. Your input is invaluable. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [log in to unmask] (faculty competition) or Kyle Huckins at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> (student competition). We look forward to working with you this year!

Sincerely,

Frances Ward-Johnson
Faculty Research Paper Competition Chair

Kyle Huckins
Student Paper Competition Chair
