The father of Dr. Linda Florence Callahan, CSM chair and MAC member, died this week. Please extend your kind thoughts and prayers to Linda and her family.


Bishop Charlie James Florence

MOORESVILLE -- Bishop Charlie James Florence 89, departed this life on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville. He was born in Cedar Grove, N.C. June 10, 1921, son of Elizabeth Florence and John Arch Parker.

Bishop Florence worked as a farmer, truck driver, Mooresville Burlington Industries and self-employed logger.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in Lattisville Grove Baptist Church.

Burial in the Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral 1 to 2 p.m.

He married the late Eleanor Garland in 1945 and five children were born, James, Kenneth, Charlie, and Steven Florence and Linda Callahan. All who survive.

He later married Earline Everhart, one daughter Elizabeth Florence Carpenter was born and he became step- father to four children, Thomas, Angela, and Larry Everhart and Ilaine Hosch, all survivors as well as two sisters, Hazeline Brooks and Beatrice Parker, and many relatives and friends.
