I am in a real hurry but I have read the statement and my initial impressions are as follows: I don't understand why this special commendation is being made. Did someone draft it because s/he have a friend at CU? Perhaps I have missed other commendations or press releases that feature outstanding fund-raising. That seems to be the only thing that CU has done that others haven't (perhaps) this year. Is this statement being made as part of a series that will commend other programs across the country in a systemized manner for their outstanding work on all the things AEJMC values including diversity? If not, then this letter should NOT be released. Why isn't the fundraising a 2 inch short in the next AEJMC News(letter)?

Dear Commission and MAC Members:

AEJMC is considering issuing a statement regarding the Journalism Program at the University of Colorado. Drafters of the statement are asking for a quick response before the end the week.

Some of the other divisions started posting and exchanging ideas earlier today. I wanted to give you the same opportunity to provide feedback prior to a final decision being made regarding the attached statement.

Tomorrow, I will leave for Albuquerque to attend the AEJMC Winter Board meeting. But please send in your feedback so that I can share the sentiments of the groups.

Thank you,
Linda

We are asking for your reply this week!
AEJMC is considering issuing the attached statement. You are receiving this copy because president Jan Slater would like your input as the PF&R chair for an AEJMC unit.

It is also being sent to your chair, but we need to hear from you.

When you decide if your group would like to comment, let us know.
Your reply will go to me (vice-head of the Standing Committee on PR&R) and Lillie Fears (member of the Standing Committee on PF&R) and we will report to AEJMC president Jan Slater.
Please let us know
..reply with your comment or reply with no comment, statement is acceptable.

Thanks for your help,
Kathy
