Hi everyone,

As you probably know, the next version of Mac OS X (called Leopard)
is set for commercial release in a couple months. One of the new
features that is of campus-wide interest is compatibility between D2L
and Safari, the default web browser for the Mac. Safari has worked
fairly well in D2L except for WYSIWYG text editing, and that is why
it has not been officially supported. Yet when Leopard ships, Safari
should be compatible with WYSIWYG text editing in web pages. Here's
an explanation of the issues involved, and a report that the latest
builds of Safari have already resolved them and even now work
correctly, without Leopard, on most sites (e.g., Google Mail):

Because the problems on Safari's end have apparently now been
resolved, I hope that OU can encourage D2L to test their CMS and
finally add Safari to their list of supported browsers. This is a
huge issue, as more and more students are using Macs and should not
have to be warned to use Mozilla just to log on to D2L.

PEACE
Kerry
