Department of Journalism Search

The Department of Journalism in the School of Communication and Theater at
Temple University announces an opening for a tenure-track or tenured-senior
scholar and teacher with professional experience and/or research interests
related to urban journalism and/or convergence ­ the focus of the new
reinvigorated department. Rank is open.  Teaching areas associated with this
position include basic and advanced reporting, electronic information
gathering (EIG), computer-assisted research and reporting (CARR), or editing
and Web communication.

Depending on areas of research and/or professional interests, the successful
candidate may have the opportunity to teach in the Schoolıs Ph.D. program
and the departmentıs professional Master of Journalism program. A Ph.D. is
recommended.

 The Department of Journalism is an ACEJMC-accredited program located in the
nationıs vibrant, fourth-largest media market. The department offers
specialties in news-editorial, magazine, broadcast journalism, and
photography for the mass media. The department has recently established a
Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab (MURL) to serve as the capstone experience.
MURL is located in dedicated, state-of-the art facilities on the
Universityıs downtown campus. The departmentıs 11 full-time faculty include
former professionals and nationally known research scholars.
