Hi, Benjamin,

Hope you are doing well. Lehigh has a job opening in community journalism perhaps of interest to Minorities and Communication division members. I am wondering if you know how I might send this out via email.

In case, you can do this, I will paste the ad below.

Thanks for the consideration and best wishes.

Jack

LEHIGH UNIVERSITY

The Department of Journalism & Communication invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position dedicated to research and teaching in community journalism with particular emphasis on Latino communities.

In collaboration with the Latin American Studies program, we seek a teacher and scholar who has the background, interests and skills to effectively engage the scholarly community as well as our students and the citizens of our distinctive locale, the predominantly Latino South Side. An ability to teach professional classes in reporting and editing is strongly preferred. The candidate should have relevant professional experience. Ph.D. is required by appointment start date.
The candidate will teach two courses per semester, advise students, participate in departmental and program service, and conduct an active research program. Upper-level classes likely would cross list with Latin American Studies. Salary and benefits are highly competitive.

The Department of Journalism & Communication has offered a small undergraduate program of superior quality since 1927. Alumni are in the top ranks of American journalism. It has seven full-time faculty. With major and minor programs in journalism, science and environmental writing, and mass communication, the department enrolls about 100 majors and minors. Latin American Studies is a growing program that offers an undergraduate minor, Pre-doctoral/Postdoctoral Fellowships, and a Latin American film series and lecture series. Participating faculty are drawn from throughout the college. More information can be found at: http://www.lehigh.edu/journalism and https://las.cas2.lehigh.edu/.

Lehigh University is a research 1 university, ranks in the top 50 among national universities in the 2015 U.S. News & World Report ratings and is in the most competitive category in both Peterson’s Guide and Barron’s Profile of American Colleges. Lehigh is located on a scenic, 1,600-acre campus in historic Bethlehem in a region of eastern Pennsylvania known as the Lehigh Valley. It is about 90 minutes from New York and Philadelphia. The Lehigh Valley is an attractive place to live and work with reasonable cost of living, easy commuting, good schools, and abundant cultural activities.

Applicants should apply at Academic Jobs Online:
https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/7406

The site will have instructions for the easy upload of all materials by candidates and references. Required materials are cover letter, vita, statements on research and teaching, and three letters of reference. Review of applications will begin September 23 and continue until the position is filled. Inquiries can be addressed to Professor Jack Lule, Department Chair, Journalism & Communication: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

The College of Arts and Sciences at Lehigh University is committed to increasing the diversity of the college community and curriculum. Candidates who can contribute to that goal are encouraged to apply and to identify their strengths or experiences in this area.
