Hi everyone
We are in the process of instituting a mentoring program for junior
faculty here at the MU School of Journalism. I need your help. We are
seeking advice or input from other institutions/people/faculty who may
have experienced or have some knowledge about how this may or may not
work. We would like to know the following:
a) how are senior faculty members encouraged or asked to participate.
voluntary or required?
b) benefits to senior faculty for participation, if any.
c) level of participation (that is, not all junior faculty feel like
they need mentors, but some need simple advice on publication and how to
get tenure). Is this an accurate perception and value to consider when
deciding whether or not to institute such a program here at our school?
d) any other feedback you feel might be helpful.
Thank you for your time. If you could get the information back to me
before 9:00 am Friday, Feb. 21, that would be incredible. We are having
a meeting on the results of this and other inquiries. Any links to
sites or other sources of information that you have at your disposal and
are willing to share with us is highly appreciated.
Have a great day, and thanks again!!

TODAY'S BIT OF WISDOM/REFLECTION:
If I can plant some little seed of love
That later will blossom in a smile,
It matters not however else I fail,
My life will be worthwhile.
If I can do some little kindly act
That later on may soothe some sad heart's pain,
It matters not what else I do.
My life Will not have been in vain.
