Greetings:

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

The AEJMC executive committee has been hard at work over the last few months, and we would like to provide some updates:

1) Membership recruitment/retention are a key focal point this year as all AEJMC divisions have experienced decreases in membership numbers over the last few years. Please encourage your friends/colleagues who are not AEJMC MAC members to join our division!

This year, we will offer free admission to our AEJMC MAC luncheon in Washington DC to the member who recruits the most new MAC division members. Please help us keep track by emailing me when you have a friend/colleague successfully sign up for the MAC Division.

2) Also in the works is an AEJMC MAC grant to help fund the research of a MAC member. Details are forthcoming.

3) AEJMC MAC Vice Head George Daniels, and Research Chairs Riva Brown (faculty) and Joseph Erba (graduate students) have been hard at work on the programming for the 2018 AEJMC Conference to be held in Washington DC.

George has secured several meaningful panel sessions for the MAC Division. Riva and Joseph have updated the research paper call, which will be released soon.

Save the date: AEJMC Conference
Washington, DC • August 6-9, 2018
Renaissance Washington DC

Pre-conference day: August 5

PAPER CALL coming late Dec. 2017 | MICROSITE coming in Jan 201

5) AEJMC MAC Midwinter Chair Melody Fisher shared the Midwinter Conference Call last week. Save the date: The conference will be held March 2-3, 2018 at the University of Oklahoma, Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The submission deadline is Dec. 22, 2017.

6) MAC Newsletter Chair Ben LaPoe is accepting submissions for the Spring MAC newsletter. Please share your ideas and articles with Ben via [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

7) The AEJMC MAC Mentorship Program is in full swing. MAC Mentorship Committee Chair Kathleen McElroy is still seeking mentors. We currently have more mentees than mentors. Please sign up if you wish to serve as a mentor for AEJMC MAC Division Graduate students and/or junior faculty: https://goo.gl/fjmXbG.

8) Federico Subervi emailed an announcement via AEJMC regarding making donations to Puerto Rico. Please consider participating in this effort.

Sincerely,

Mia Moody-Ramirez, Ph.D.
