I am interested in letting it be known to MAC members with expertise in
public relations that UNM has an open position.  Here is the information

Assistant Professor Search Announcement: Public Relations The Department
of Communication and Journalism at the University of New Mexico invites
applications for a full-time, probationary position leading to tenure,
at the rank of Assistant Professor. Minimum Qualification:  Doctorate in
communication, journalism, mass communication, or a related field,
completed by August 15, 2007 or MA in communication, journalism, mass
communication or a related field and significant professional
experience.  The department expects to hire a specialist in public
relations and is open to various theoretical or methodological
approaches. Preference will be given to applicants with the following

qualifications: (1) ability to teach undergraduate courses in the area
of public relations; (2) ability to teach course in a secondary interest
particularly print journalism, but we will consider mass communication,
advertising, or broadcast journalism at the undergraduate level as well
as graduate level courses (but the primary appointment will be at the
undergraduate level); (3) professional experience in public relations;
(4) ability to conduct research and publish in scholarly and/or
professional journals; (5) ability and desire to mentor undergraduate
students from diverse backgrounds; (6) willingness to work with student
organizations related to public relations; (7) ability to complement the
current strengths of the department; and (8) active participation in
professional journalism and/or communication associations.

A complete application consists of: (1) a signed letter of interest
identifying areas of expertise, research interests, and teaching
experience; (2) an academic resume, including e-mail address; (3)
samples of your scholarly work; (4) evidence of teaching effectiveness;
and

(5) three letters of support from academic and/or professional
references.
