As you know, ASU communications professor, Dr. E-K. Daufin (membership
chair for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass
Communication Minorities and Communication Division) is featured in a
cultural photo art calendar that celebrates the beauty of natural hair
on women of African descent. The women in the calendar were selected as
a result of an international call for art photos for women of the
Diaspora sporting natural hair.
Daufin's photographer is Hadley Bean, a Montgomery professional.
Bernadette Davis says she created the calendar, "...in the hope that it
will be a daily reminder of how beautiful naturally kinky hair can be,"
and she hopes to inspire and support women of color with kinky hair to,
"resist the pressure to straighten, perm and add weave to their own
hair."
Designed by Maui Media in Orlando, Florida, the calendar is now
available on line (shipping beginning Nov. 19) at www.nappynewyear.com
<http://www.nappynewyear.com/> and at Charis Books in Atlanta, Georgia.
Media inquires should be directed to Ms. Davis at:
