Subject: Nomination of the next Vice-chair of the Council of Division: Deadline 1/25

Everyone,

A happy new year -

The Council of Division are currently looking for the next VICE chair of the Divisions. Please see below for expected duties.

It sounds like a great opportunity for us to reflect our voice/perspective, I thought. Is there anyone who is interested in stepping in this position? Or anyone you can recommend for this??? In fact, current Chair, Bob Trumpbour, has expressed the importance of diversity as well...

Glad that we have a lot of AEJMC-VETERANS (experienced colleagues!!) in our members, so, you have any thoughts, concerns, suggestions, etc, PLEASE feel free to share with me/us!

The deadline is approaching - 1/25. SO, we don't have much time, so, if you want to do, it should be quick!

Thanks for your attention --

Yuki

Subject: [COD] AEJMC COD Vice Chair nominations

Greetings current COD members and past Heads:

This is the call for nominations for the next Vice Chair of the Council of Divisions. Persons eligible to be nominated are outgoing Heads from this year and outgoing Heads from last year.

Please make your nomination by sending me your email message — subject line “COD Vice Chair nominations” — with the nominee’s name, affiliation and email address. Before submitting a nomination for someone else, please first make sure he/she is willing to serve. The person elected will be Vice Chair for two years, then Chair for two years. This position also includes a seat on the Board of Directors for the four years of service to the COD. This includes attending Board meetings before the August convention (pre-conference day) and at the end of the convention, as well as Board meetings that will most likely continue to be at the Winter Meeting time.

There is of course no chip auction in the coming year and no Winter Meeting attendance for the entire COD, but the basic agreed-upon plan is that the COD Chair, and perhaps also the Vice Chair, will meet at that time with AEJMC staff and supervise the new filling-the-grid process.

** IN RELATION ** -- at the December meeting, I said I would ask those of you who participated in our decision to change the way we program the AEJMC convention to continue thinking about possible obstacles to our new process. This is also a request that you send me any issues or concerns you have now thought of so that all Division and Interest Group concerns can be considered well in advance of implementing the new procedure. **

DEADLINE to make nominations is Friday, January 25th. We will then establish an online voting system through SurveyMonkey and probably complete the election process within about four weeks following the close of nominations. For the sake of timeliness I am sending this directly to all of you without asking Jennifer what points I may be overlooking — so I will note that if she has anything to add that I have overlooked, watch for a follow-up message from her.

I have enjoyed serving as Vice Chair and Chair of the COD and appreciate the dedication you have all made to the organization that has made my job easier. My term ends with the first meeting in D.C., then at the closing meeting, Bob Trumpbour will be the Chair—and the new Vice Chair will assume his/her duties.

Thanks,

Tony DeMars
COD Chair
