Good morning MAC members,

Please see the reminder below.

The MAC division is co-sponsoring the exhibit "Ethnic American Press: Cultural Maintenance and Assimilation Roles" by MAC member Diana Rios.

The exhibition has been accepted at the Dodd Center at the University of Connecticut and will feature selected archive and contemporary alternative U.S. newspapers. The exhibit begins in March at the Dodd Center's main gallery at UConn. As part of our sponsorship, MAC members have been asked to help collect papers for the project.

Newspapers desperately needed for the exhibit include Native American and Asian papers. Also, Latino and African American papers are needed. When sending papers for the exhibit, please include copy such as a brief history of the paper, publishing dates, ownership, readership info, press functions such as political galvanization, cultural/racial pride, etc.

Send newspapers by Nov. 14 to the following address:

Dr. Diana I. Rios
Associate Prof. of Communication Sciences and Institute for PRLS
Dept. Communication Sciences, U-1085
University of Connecticut
Storrs, CT 06269

If you have questions you may contact her at 860-486-3187 or by email at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>

Thanks Mac members for supporting this project!!

Frances
