Colleagues - We have an interesting position available here at the
University of Iowa. Please forward this to anyone you know who may be
interested.

Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish to help develop a program in
creative writing in Spanish. Requirements: MFA or Ph.D. in hand by August
2008; evidence of excellence in teaching and demonstrated potential for
outstanding scholarship and creative publication. The successful candidate
must be able to teach creative writing in Spanish as well as courses in
Hispanic literatures and cultures at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The successful candidate will also enjoy opportunities for collaboration
with the Iowa Writers Workshop and Iowa¹s International Writing Program.
Send letter, CV, and three letters of reference, along with a writing sample
(ten poems, three short stories, or a chapter or section from a novel,
according to genre) to Professor Adriana Méndez Rodenas, Creative Writing
Search, Department of Spanish and Portuguese, 111 Phillips Hall, University
of Iowa, Iowa City, IA 52242. Screening of applications will begin December
26, 2007 and continue until the position is filled. The Department and the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are strongly committed to gender and
ethnic diversity; the strategic plans of the University, College and
Department reflect this commitment. Women and members of underrepresented
minorities are especially encouraged to apply. The University of Iowa is an
Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. We encourage applications
from women and minorities.

We also anticipate a new hire in Spanish Creative Writing at a tenured level
(associate or full professor) within the near future.
