Dr. Tommie Stewart and I will both have sessions at the Alabama
Gerontological Society 2007 Annual Conference, March 28-30 at the
Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center.
On Thursday, March 29 at 2 p.m. I will do a research, oral
interpretation and public speaking presentation on, "Beyond 9 to 5:
Women & Aging in the Media - A Matriarchal Perspective." Participants
will get to explore the ancient matriarchal perspective on women and
aging called croning, an alternative to current cultural/media limiting
roles. We will use group ceremony, poetry, drumming and storytelling.
Participants will experience a different way to look at the issue of
women and aging.
On Friday, March 30 Dr. Stewart will do the conference keynote/closing
session at 10:15 a.m.
The conference theme is, "Bridge Building for Supportive Networks In
Aging." Registration is required. For more information, call Alabama's
Network for Aging at 1-800-201-4247.
