Subject: Re: MAC members--Please register your vote to this motion
Dr. Lee mentioned during MAC's state of the division panel last summer
that he would like for us to reclaim a leadership role in the
scholarship selection process and funding. It was a humbling experience
to hear MAC's history first-hand, as well as his aspirations for the
division. I would like to see MAC make a more significant contribution
to the scholarship fund, and to secure a matching contribution from
AEJMC given his legacy and pivotal leadership for both. Consider this
virtual discussion following the motion before it is put to a vote.

I move that we use MAC funds to send flowers or a donation of up
to $100
to a charity of the Barrow's family choosing in honor of Dr.
Lionel
Barrow, Jr.
Note: The 9/30/2008 balance in the MAC treasury was $5387.22

Subject: Passing of a Journalism Trailblazer
MAC members,
It is with great sorrow that I share the news of the passing of
one of
the giants in journalism education, Dr. Lionel Barrow, Jr. Many
of you
may already know of this sad news. I just posted a tribute with
some of
my personal thoughts on my blog this morning.
